Grand Rapids, Michigan August 6, 2008  - Brian Downs, a Kent County attorney and candidate for Judge in the Kent County 17th Circuit Court in the November election is riding his bicycle 758 miles from the Capitol in Lansing to the nation's Capitol in Washington DC.  Downs along with 3 other riders are signaling a message that Family Courts throughout the nation are not family friendly.  The Equal Parenting Bike Trek has been organized to bring attention to what he believes should be reform in the nations court system.

Brian Downs, who has been a family advocate for the past 7 years, believes that it is the duty of our nation to protect the parent child relationship and repair this relationship when necessary so that children maintain a loving relationship with their entire biological family.  Downs believes that the nation's family court system does more splitting up of families than protecting and maintaining this most important and primary relationship.

Minister Ronald Smith, CEO of Children Need Both Parents, Inc, a non-profit group located in both Chicago and Grand Rapids stated, "Our family court judges pay little attention to the damage being done to our children removing one or both biological parents from a child's life without making a concerted effort that no stone is left unturned to repair and maintain this God Given relationship."

Downs is scheduled to leave Lansing at 2:00pm EST August 7th and scheduled to arrive at the Family Preservation Festival in DC on August 15-16.

The 2008 Equal Parenting Bike Trek is set to leave Lansing, MI on August 7, 2008!  We expect even more media coverage!  Below is from 2007:

The media and blogger coverage of the Equal Parenting Bike Trek has been simply amazing!  This list will continue to grow as time nears the departure date of August 11th, 2007 for an area very close to the Lansing, Michigan Capitol.  There will be media coverage throughout the entire 700 miles Robb MacKenzie and Robert Pedersen will have to pedal.  We are also aware of post-D.C. Rally interviews that are already scheduled.

The Fall 2007 issue of "The Liberator" which is published by the ACFC did a phenomenal job in reporting the 2007 Equal Parenting Bike Trek with Robert Pedersen and Robb MacKenzie!  Several full page spreads with color were dedicated to this incredible story.  We are very thankful for the incredible job that The Liberator staff did on this event.  Each issue of this newspaper seems to improve by leaps and bounds!  You can order your copy of this newspaper through the ACFC.

2nd Annual Family Preservation Rally - The Equal Parenting Bike Trek Crew Will Be There!

August 15,16 &17 2008 are the dates for the 2nd Annual Family Preservation Rally! This is a must attend event, so make sure that you schedule this off of work now. You can check out the homepage for the DC Rally 2008 for updates on this.

The EQUAL Parenting Bike Trek Crew will be there! Robert Pedersen, Robb MacKenzie and Brian Downs, Esq. will be leaving Lansing, Michigan on August 9th 2008 for the 758 mile trip to Washington, D.C. Yes! We have an attorney joining us on this intense cycling trek.  The 2008 Equal Parenting Bike Trek will receive even more press than the 2007 trek!  We even have some billboards that we will be putting to good use in Battle Creek and Lansing to help promote the event.  We already have roughly double the number of big sponsors set up to help with the cost of this amazing event!

Cycling4Children and the Equal Parenting Bike Trek are now on Velog

In preparation for the 2008 Equal Parenting Bike Trek we decided to add Cycling4Children to Velog.  Velog Cycling4Children  We are very excited about the prospects for the 2008 Equal Parenting Bike Trek and we have some really cool things happening behind the scenes.  Robb MacKenzie and I are equally excited about the addition of an attorney to our team for 2008.
